MNA Featured in HNHN Blog
ANA’s Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation (HNHN) is pleased to shine the Champion Spotlight on The Maryland Nurses Association (MNA). Read about MNA’s efforts to emphasize nurse health, safety, and wellness for their members.
The Maryland Nurses Association (MNA), a Champion for Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation (HNHN) is the voice for nursing in Maryland and advocates for policies supporting the highest quality healthcare, safe environments, and excellence in nursing. Our core values include: Camaraderie, Mentoring, Diversity, Leadership, and Respect.
Regarding nurse safety, MNA has a specific Practice & Education Committee workgroup that focuses on workforce issues. These can include, but are not limited to: nurse staffing, the work environment, and occupational safety and health. The Committee collaborates with appropriate stakeholders, identifies and enlists subject matter experts, and analyzes current data trends on these topics.
For nurse health and wellness, we keep members informed of HNHN’s activities through our journal, The Maryland Nurse, which reaches 80,000 nurses throughout the state. The Spring 2018 edition featured an article on HNHN. MNA’s website links to HNHN to spread the word even more to our members. We offered a ‘healthy afternoon break’ with healthy food options during our convention last year and did the same during this year’s conference as well. We plan on ramping up our efforts in nurse wellness for 2019 by offering early morning yoga during our 2019 convention. Namaste!
