Continuing Education Applications

Maryland Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development activities by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation (COA).

Individual Activity Approval (IAA)

Planning an activity or intervention to enrich your nurses’ contribution to quality health care and enhance their career? You can apply for your activity to be approved through MNA’s Individual Activity Approval (IAA) process: Complete the application that is appropriate for your content, and include supporting documentation as indicated in the application.

Submit your completed application with supporting documentation to [email protected] in one (1) PDF document. Include the receipt of payment in the email. MNA does not accept hard-copy applications sent via postal mail.

Activity applications should be submitted at least 60 days before the scheduled event/launch to allow for review and approval processes. Effective January 11, 2024, applications submitted within less than 60 days will be required to pay an expedited fee that is double the application fee. Applications submitted in less than 30 days will be accepted only at the discretion of MNA.

Effective July 17, 2023, the IAA Application Fee is $25 per contact hour + $125. For example, an activity of 2.0 contact hours would require an application fee of $175 total to be paid. There are no refunds.

Approved Provider Unit (APU) Application

If you offer multiple nursing continuing professional development activities over a period of 12 months, and are compliant with NCPD criteria, you can apply to become an Approved Provider Unit (APU) under MNA. Approved Provider Units can provide unlimited NCPD activities and award contact hours for a maximum period of three (3) years.

APU applications (self-study & activity files) are peer-reviewed through an accreditation process for compliance with criteria and sustainable provider structure and operations. The review and approval process can take up to 90 days to complete. MNA does not accept hard-copy applications sent via postal mail.
